That everything’s certain in a clockwork universe
So as a child I was given a pet
To teach me love
Always ends in death

I used to think that I was cursed
To never knowing in a quantum universe
She said you’ll run away to someone else
But wherever you go
You’ll never escape yourself
But I know Ii was a terrible lesson to learn

A brush with death pulling at your nerves
A passing note in a silent universe
You used to think it was just bad dreams
But self-defence
Was suppressing your memories

How would you feel if our roles were reversed?
Could you make sense of a meaningless universe?
How would you deal with the constant dread
And ever-present doubt
That maybe you’re better off dead?

Don’t always get what we deserve
All alone in an endless universe
Making maps of the tales we tell
Never moving on
Just drawing parallels

It feels as if your heart will burst
Losing touch in an expanding universe
There’s a feeling deep within ourselves
Of everything moving
Away from everything else
